Free to Own Hardware Program¶
The Free to Own Hardware Program is a device financing model similar to a cellphone plan. Slide provides hardware upfront through an interest-free, “same-as-cash” arrangement.
How the Program Works¶
- You receive a Slide Box with no hardware payment.
- Each month that you maintain an active paid service subscription linked to that Slide Box, you earn credit toward full ownership.
- Each Slide Box enrolled in Free to Own is assigned a “purchase price” and a fixed installment term.
- Each time you pay for a full month of service linked to your Slide Box, that month of the device installment is waived, which reduces the remaining device balance.
- Once all required months are completed, you own the Slide Box free and clear.
- If you suspend service related to the Slide Box, you can “shelf” it for up to 60 days until you “re-home” it with another customer, or you can buy out the remaining balance on the device.
Installment Terms by Device¶
- Z1 devices earn ownership after 12 monthly service payments.
- R1 devices earn ownership after 24 monthly service payments.
- B1 devices are not currently eligible for this program.

Slide is committed to making it easy for you to do business with us. Our goal is to build long term durable partnerships. The Free to Own program is designed to align our success with yours. We understand that hardware can be a significant capital expense for our partners and their customers. By leveraging the strength of our balance sheet, we remove that upfront burden so you can deploy hardware when and where it is needed.
Where to Manage Free to Own Slide Boxes¶
You can view and manage Free to Own devices directly in the Slide Console. From the Console, navigate to your Hardware Program page where each device enrolled in Free to Own will display:
- Current ownership progress
- Months completed and months remaining
- Remaining device balance
- Grace period status if applicable
These views are designed to help you understand payoff status at a glance, and make informed decisions about upgrades, downgrades, or cancellations.
What Happens If Something Changes¶
The 60-Day Grace Period¶
If service is interrupted (paused or cancelled), you have 60 days from that date to “re-home” the device (i.e. reinstate service). If you reinstate within the 60-day grace period, your ownership credit accrual will resume with the next monthly service bill. If you do not reinstate service within the 60 day grace period, we will issue you an invoice for the remaining device hardware balance. All of that said, we’re not in this business to sell you hardware, so call us and we’ll try to work with you.
I Need to Return a Slide Box¶
First, all Slide Boxes include a 30-day no-risk evaluation period. During this time, a partner may return a Slide Box for any reason without incurring any financial obligation. Period. If you return a device following the 30-day no-risk evaluation period, but before completing the Free to Own term, ownership does not transfer. In that case, any remaining unpaid balance may still be due depending on the applicable device price and installment term.
I Have Found a New Home for a Slide Box with Cancelled Service¶
If you “re-home” or reassign a paused Slide Box to a new customer, the Free to Own program will resume where you left off. When you’re ready to reactivate service, simply reach out to billing@slide.tech. Once service is reactivated on the device, your grace period ends and monthly ownership credit accrual resumes with your next monthly service bill.
I Have a Refund, a Credit, or a Free Month of Service¶
If a month of service is not paid, ownership credit does not accrue for that month. Ownership credit is earned only for fully paid months of service. Account credits do not accelerate ownership. For example, if Slide issues a credit or a refund during month 6 of your ownership term, the ownership timeline will extend by one additional month.
